The science has been clear for years and now it's documented in unprecedented detail. A new study led by experts in federal health policy and drug regulation at Johns Hopkins University, and published in the medical journal JAMA, reviewed more than 5,000 pages of FDA documents over 12 years. It found that agency leaders almost always followed the evidence-based recommendations of their scientists on mifepristone. The conclusion is clear: medication abortion is safe and effective. Abortion is essential health care. Hey Jane has served more than 100,000 patients, who are part of a growing number of people turning to telemedicine for abortion care. In fact, the Society of Family Planning’s latest #WeCount report shows telehealth now accounts for 27% of all abortion care, up from 25% at the end of 2024 and just 5% in spring 2022. Many choose telehealth for its convenience and affordability. Hey Jane makes medication abortion more accessible by accepting many private insurance plans and Illinois Medicaid, which can bring costs as low as $0, and by offering flexible pay options so patients can access care from home without travel, long waits, or high out-of-pocket expenses. https://lnkd.in/gczeH2V7
