Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve welcomed seven incredible new team members across our offices. From engineers and environmental specialists to survey and billing professionals, each brings unique expertise, passions, and perspectives that will make our team even stronger. Meet Aiden, Aaron, Erin, Mark, Seth, and Shawn and Steven — we’re thrilled to have them on board! • Aiden Budinski – Billing Specialist (Rochester): Aiden brings strong skills in accounts payable, reconciliation, and data organization. He studied abroad in the Czech Republic, worked at WGSU college radio, and has traveled to 11 countries. • Aaron P. Beyler, PE – Design Engineer, Energy (Rochester): Aaron is a licensed PE with expertise in site design. He loves the outdoors, has traveled widely, and is a lifelong Eagles fan (who also roots for the Bills). • Erin Fallon – Environmental Specialist I (Albany): Erin has experience in compliance monitoring and ecological assessments. She enjoys running, hiking, yoga, and hopes to become scuba certified soon. • Mark Potter, EIT – Project Engineer, Energy (Rochester): Mark is an environmental engineer with civil/site and renewable energy experience. He previously worked with David J. Plante, AICP CEP, our Director of Energy—this is the second time Dave has hired him! • Seth Baker– Engineer I, Transportation (Albany): Seth recently graduated in Civil Engineering from Bradley University. He interned with the Greater Peoria Sanitary District, served as a teaching assistant, and enjoys inline skating and Wes Anderson films. • Shawn Warner – Instrument Person I, Survey (Rochester): Shawn earned his B.S. in Forest Resource Management at SUNY ESF and has field experience with the NYS DEC and surveyor firms. He enjoys hiking, camping, and fishing. • Steven Wilkinson, PE – Energy Civil Engineering Group Manager (Rochester): Steven returns to Fisher with extensive civil engineering experience in renewable energy, transportation, and commercial projects. He and his wife are celebrating nearly 30 years of marriage, and together they’ve raised seven children and are proud grandparents to four—soon to be five. Smooth sailing for a great cause! Don Naetzker, AICP, Director of Planning at Fisher Associates, hit the water for the annual New York Architects’ Regatta Challenge, an event that combines design world camaraderie with the challenge of racing on the Hudson. This year’s regatta raised funds for local nonprofits doing incredible work across New York City, including SoundWaters; Riverkeeper; The Sailing Foundation of New York; Hudson River Community Sailing; Rocking the Boat; and Brooklyn Boatworks. This past quarter, Fisher Associates’ Community Impact Committee put our passion into action by addressing both food insecurity and environmental stewardship in the communities we call home. In Buffalo, our team partnered with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation at Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve to protect local ecosystems. Volunteers removed invasive species such as Stilt Grass and Phragmites, helping restore balance and preserve the health of this important natural resource. In Pennsylvania, we joined the United Way’s Day of Caring at City Mission in Washington, PA. Our team served lunch to individuals experiencing homelessness and the broader community, while also deep-cleaning chapel chairs used daily for classes and events. Their efforts supported City Mission’s commitment to provide shelter, meals, and essential care for neighbors in need. How do you modernize zoning while preserving a village’s historic identity?   That was the challenge the Village of Fairport faced as it began implementing its recently adopted Comprehensive Plan. With a focus on expanding housing options, revitalizing downtown, and guiding development that complements the community’s character, the Village partnered with Fisher Associates to draft a new Form-Based Code. Our team led the zoning update to:  • Encourage mixed-use development  • Simplify zoning districts and introduce performance-based standards  • Address housing needs through “missing-middle” housing options  • Integrate sustainability into the regulatory framework Community input shaped the code at every stage. Now under review, it provides a flexible, forward-thinking framework that reflects Fairport’s values and vision. Did you know that precast concrete culvert boxes not only speed up installation but can also deliver a stronger, longer-lasting solution with less maintenance over time? Here, crews are installing new precast boxes to replace a failed steel pipe – creating a structure designed for a 75-year service life. Fisher Associates supported the project with design, construction oversight, and inspection services to ensure it provides lasting value for the community. A sincere thank you to the Tompkins County Highway Dept and all project partners for their collaboration in bringing this vital infrastructure improvement to life.
