  • 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁   Companies who want to enable safe, efficient customer-permissioned financial data sharing have several riddles to solve. One big one involves managing risk among the companies collecting and using the data that customer share. “Permissioned data sharing enables a lot of innovative use cases; it also creates downstream risks that need to be mitigated. The sheer number of entities involved means not all the parties have a sightline into each other. Fortunately, the collaborative spirit that is a hallmark of FDX can help remedy this situation." Ryan T. Miller, CIPP/US, Vice President & Senior Counsel, Innovation Policy - American Bankers Association, and co-chair of the new FDX DDRRM Task Force   𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆: • A vast majority of “open banking” connections go through an intermediary, a.k.a Data Access Platform (or “data aggregator”). • As more and more companies build FDX-aligned API connections, they’re also looking for best practices around how risk is managed by the authorized third parties   • But, there’s no common framework today for intermediaries to onboard and risk-assess their customers (e.g., fintechs, credit unions, banks) who receive permissioned data.   "Through FDX’s newly launched Downstream Data Recipient Risk Management (DDRRM) Task Force, we are building a framework of best practices to allow due diligence on authorized third parties that connect through intermediaries. We are excited about this important deliverable and appreciate the support of FDX leadership, staff, and members in making it happen.” Jill Hoffman, Open Finance Industry Partnerships at Plaid, and co-chair of the DDRRM Task Force     If this topic impacts you, we’d welcome having you in the room.
