After the Lahaina fires, the County of Kauaʻi recognized the need to embed wildfire mitigation directly into their regulatory framework. They’re now leading the way by integrating fire hazard standards into form-based code, powered by ArcGIS. Using ArcGIS XR Viewer and augmented reality supported by Esri partner inCitu, Kauaʻi is visualizing risk, engaging stakeholders, and helping communities understand how new policies can protect their homes. This work culminated in the signing of Bill 2961, Hawai‘i’s first ordinance to incorporate Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) safety standards directly into zoning and permitting. #PoweredByEsri
