🌱 Standing Up Supply Chain Sustainability at Xcel Energy At the September SSCA Sustainable Sourcing Conference, Xcel Energy was honored with the Utility Transforming the Supply Chain Award—a recognition of our leadership and innovation in embedding sustainability into supply chain practices. Between April and September 2024, Xcel Energy launched its inaugural Supply Chain Sustainability program—a fast-moving, foundational effort that laid the groundwork for long-term impact. We built the program around a clear “Start with Why” approach: aligning with corporate strategy and articulating a strong value proposition from day one. That clarity enabled rapid progress across: ✅ Strategy development ✅ Internal & external messaging ✅ Training materials ✅ Public-facing website ✅ Supplier assessment & GHG dashboards ✅ Funding acquisition ✅ SSCA membership 🔍Key pillars of our approach: Data Sharing: Collaborating with high-impact suppliers to identify risks and opportunities Tools & Incentives: Launching a resource hub and hosting supplier training sessions High-Impact Metrics: Communicating metrics aligned to our value proposition to build awareness 🚀 What’s Next: RFP Bid Evaluation & Scorecards: Integrating sustainability criteria into sourcing by 2026 Low-Carbon Materials: Mapping EPC spend to identify carbon hotspots and explore alternatives like low-carbon concrete and steel Supplier Recognition: Rolling out a formal recognition process in 2026 We’re continuing to work with peers and suppliers to drive innovation and move the needle toward actionable change.
