  • Yesterday's panel on #AI in private markets at #PEMACOM2025 (pemacom - Private Equity and M&A Community), the industry's leading conference for cross-border mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments, was smart, practical and hugely engaging.   💡 Below are the actionable takeaways for anyone who couldn’t be there:   Big thanks to Marcus P. Höfer (base camp management consulting GmbH), Gokce Akkahve (FTI Consulting), Tim Cruttenden (VenCap International plc) and Andrew Bocskocsky (Grata) for the intriguing discussion.   𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺: • The hype is fading - what matters now is real implementation. VCs are making long-term conviction bets (think OpenAI/ScaleAI style), not chasing headlines.   𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀: • Europe - and Germany in particular - is shifting from pilots to targeted, task-level deployments. Change is often bottom-up, driven by AI champions within teams.   𝗥𝗢𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲: • Some projects deliver immediate time savings (we heard examples of 20-30% time saved; one task went from 6 weeks - 2.5 weeks). But ROI may be better measured by team adoption rather than direct cost savings.   𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: • U.S. invents, Asia scales, Europe regulates. Europe’s regulatory-first approach can build trust but may slow innovation.   𝟱–𝟭𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸: 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗜: • AI will be ubiquitous, invisible, and deeply embedded in workflows • Adoption will be gradual, then sudden, with transformative impact • Every company will be AI-enabled, similar to the tech-enablement wave   𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆: • Regulatory clarity (GDPR & model data sourcing) • Europe’s strategic direction: tech stack vs. data frameworks  • ROI inconsistency and lack of standardized measurement • Adoption gaps across regions and industries
