It’s Official: Lease is Signed!!! Our flagship Dogtopia location is underway! After a long real estate journey in the challenging San Diego market, Alex and I are thrilled to share that our DREAM LOCATION has become reality here in downtown San Diego for our Dogtopia franchise! This moment represents years of preparation, faith, perseverance, and countless hours of work. At times we have questioned our own sanity — but we knew that with determination, the right partners, and the support of our incredible community, we would succeed. A Special thank you for all the work and effort put into getting us to this point by Elise Assaf, Navin Bhutani, Christopher Fleeger , Paul McDonald and many others on our Dogtopia franchise team. Thank you to our family, friends, mentors, and everyone who has cheered us on during this huge life pivot. Today, we honor the memory of all those lost on September 11, 2001, and recognize the heroes who answered the call that day. Among them were more than 300 working dogs who served alongside their handlers at Ground Zero. Specially trained in search and rescue, cadaver detection, police work, and animal-assisted therapy, these dogs worked tirelessly on the smoldering piles of debris. One search and rescue dog even helped find the last living person rescued, 27 hours after the towers collapsed. The work was grueling, both physically and mentally, but with the care of their handlers and veterinarians, these dogs persevered. Therapy dogs also played an important role, bringing moments of comfort to exhausted first responders in the midst of tragedy. On this solemn day, we remember the bravery, loyalty, and service of these four-legged heroes and the unbreakable bond they shared with their handlers.
