We were recently honored to host a Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) training at Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad in partnership with Explore Flint & Genesee. This training is about more than our parks, it’s about ensuring every visitor to Genesee County feels welcomed, supported, and inspired to explore all our community has to offer. By becoming CTAs, our staff are joining a network of local advocates who share the stories, assets, and experiences that make Genesee County a special place to live, work and play. Together, we’re strengthening the visitor experience, supporting local businesses, and showcasing the best of our region. #GeneseeCountyParks #GeneseeCountyServes #CommunityPride #ExploreFlintAndGenesee #VisitorExperience #DestinationGenesee #StrongerTogether #CertifiedTourismAmbassador #BuildingCommunity

“Safe, connected trails and sidewalks are an excellent resource for residents of all ages to enjoy physical activity and get to work, schools, parks, neighborhoods and other community destinations,” said Ridgway White, Mott Foundation president and CEO, about a $1,030,000 grant to Genesee County to cover funding gaps for four trail segments.

Yesterday was a very fullfilling day as I volunteered with my Kettering University colleagues, University Avenue Corridor Coalition, and Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission to help plant 70 trees in Kellar Park part of a new initiative of the Flint River Watershed Coalition to plant 4,000 trees in parks across the Flint River Watershed. These trees not only help produce clean air but also filter ground water that drains into local streams and the Flint River.
