I see this all the time in our work - very worrying! By being more: - Outgoing - Cooperative - And confident You will have an immediate and stark advantage over your peers! Not that it's a zero sum game... The point is - if you're looking to build your career, personality is an underrated muscle we tend not to exercise as much. Take this for what it's worth!

The simple answer is that we must increase the profitability per role. This is literally the only metric that matters. People are inherently rational actors, and will follow the money. Greater automation + the talent necessary to implement these solutions will increase the profitability per worker. How do we accelerate this process?

Why are so many companies building "AI for manufacturing" point solutions? We chatted with 100+ manufacturers last week, and not a single one listed this as a priority. The main priorities we heard were: - Automating existing processes deterministically - Securing a robust talent pipeline And neither of these problems is solved. This seems like a trend fueled by VCs, not customers. Am I missing something??

Most students I know apply to dozens or hundreds of roles before landing their first internship. Some never do. It’s a broken process. You guess what companies want. You submit the same resume over and over. You rarely get feedback. So here’s another approach. Bits to Atoms (YC S24) is launching a technical fellowship. Rather than a traditional program, it’s a Slack group with three goals: 1) Give you access to open sourced problems from real companies 2) Help you meet other engineers and operators doing the same 3) Gives you visible progress. Something you can point to, and something you’re welcome to share. The idea is to help early-career people build signal by building things, instead than just chasing job postings.
