The Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA) extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for the 2025 Mass Black Expo (MBE) at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport. This year’s theme, Building Wealth Together, Owning the Next Decade, honored BECMA’s ten-year anniversary and created a powerful platform for attendees to convene, share ideas, and collaborate toward a more productive, inclusive, and equitable economy. The Mass Black Expo is an immersive experience that brings together hundreds of businesses, entrepreneurs, and professionals with purchasing opportunities, capacity-building resources, and career advancement options. It serves as a vital space for residents and leaders across the Commonwealth to connect, innovate, and drive collective economic progress. BECMA remains deeply committed to fostering an equitable Massachusetts economy. Thank you for making this year’s Expo a tremendous success—your participation, energy, and support made all the difference. As BECMA President & CEO Nicole Obi shared in her remarks: "This is the time to move forward. We cannot go back. We’ve sacrificed, fought, and invested too much to go back. Out of the challenges of this moment come great opportunities—to invest in our businesses, support the institutions we hold dear, and partner with others to build a stronger future. As we celebrate ten years, let’s commit to the next ten. Together, we will build wealth, strengthen our communities, and own the decade ahead."

Thank you to Alphonso David, President & CEO of the Global Black Economic Forum, for joining us as this year’s keynote speaker at the Mass Black Expo. At the Expo, David shared a timely reminder about the foundations of true equity: “You cannot have freedom without ownership, you cannot have wealth without wealth building, and you cannot have democracy without structural equity,” he said. "If we want to secure freedom for the next generation, we have to invest in the infrastructure of opportunity — and that means ownership, capital, entrepreneurship, and community wealth.” We also extend our sincere thanks to Courtney Brunson, Esq., Director of Economic Equity Initiatives at The Boston Foundation, for moderating the conversation. In her role, she leads the Racial Wealth Gap Partnership, bringing a deep commitment to closing equity gaps across our region. Last week, we hosted our 7th Annual Mass Black Expo, where this year’s theme — Building Wealth Together, Owning the Next Decade — brought together hundreds of Black-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and professionals to explore opportunities and build a more inclusive and equitable economy. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to attend the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts, Inc. 2025 event, along with my incredible colleagues at TD it was an eye-opening experience that left a lasting impression. Being surrounded by so many innovative ideas and incredibly talented, hardworking individuals was both inspiring and energizing. The level of passion and dedication within the community was evident in every conversation I had with business owners and the panel discussion about scaling black firms in today’s economy. It was a powerful reminder of the impact that collaboration and vision can have when paired with action.
