Boston Metal welcomed the AIST - Association for Iron & Steel Technology Metallurgy - Steelmaking & Casting Technology Committee (MSCTC), which focuses on advancing the knowledge of #steelmaking & #casting as they apply to upstream and downstream processes and products, to our Woburn, MA office for their recent committee meeting. The group enjoyed a presentation about our Molten Oxide Electrolysis (MOE) #technology as well as a tour of our R&D facility and pilot plant, where they witnessed MOE for green #steel production at work. See how we’re removing carbon from the steelmaking equation: https://lnkd.in/eaD5GtES

Boston Metal was honored to participate in the Tantalum-Niobium International Study Center (T.I.C.) 66th General Assembly in Cape Town, where Commercial Director, Gustavo Macedo, presented how Molten Oxide Electrolysis (MOE) is redefining #sustainability in the metals industry. His presentation highlighted how MOE is a game‑changer: ✅ Efficient recovery of #Tantalum and #Niobium from metallurgical slags and tailings ✅ Extremely low CO₂ emissions through an electrified, low-carbon process ✅ Zero water requirement, supporting responsible water stewardship ✅ Enables responsible sourcing by reducing reliance on high-risk supply chains ✅ Gives a second life to mines nearing closure by unlocking value from tailings and industrial residues ✅ Strengthens supply security for critical raw materials (CRMs) used in capacitors, superalloys, and HSLA steel By combining circular economy principles with innovative #electrometallurgy, MOE offers a scalable, selective and sustainable pathway to recover high-value metals while minimizing environmental impact. Thank you to the T.I.C. community for an excellent technical program and valuable industry dialogue. Interested in slag reprocessing assessments or Ta/Nb recovery collaboration? Did you know the first integrated #iron works in North America was in Saugus, Massachusetts? Saugus Iron Works is a National Historic Site with a museum, visitor center and reconstructed buildings, including a blast furnace and casting shed. Our integrated global #communications #team visited the site last week to see how iron was first manufactured in the U.S. back in the 1640s. Just 20 minutes down the road from Saugus, Boston Metal is decarbonizing #steelmaking by using renewable electricity instead of coal to create pure liquid iron. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eaD5GtES

Sometimes only rolling up your sleeves and doing your own FOAK will do. Kudos to Boston Metal on their recent raise of $51M and the continued success on being a green steel pioneer. Boston Metal showcases many of the ingredients of being a chef of FOAK manufacturing - 30 year+ veteran CEO who has built things, entrepreneurial verve to both generate revenue and de-risk technology early (starting with niobium as a 1st product stepping stone to green steel), laudable deal making skills (Boston Metal's cap table is a who's who of strategics), and a global mindset (their first site is in Brazil - Boston Metal do Brasil).
