As we approach less than 2 weeks before a major filing deadline, it is crucial that the IRS continue to except 100% of its staff for the duration of the shutdown. A reduction in staff at this time would not only cause hardship for taxpayers and practitioners, but could also delay critical guidance on the new tax law, jeopardizing tax compliance for millions.
