A nonprofit fundraising platform for teachers, principals, and administrators to raise money for school supplies.

About us

AdoptAClassroom.org is a national nonprofit that empowers teachers and high-needs schools with the funding they need to equip their classrooms and students for success. Over the past 25 years, as we’ve grown in size; staff, reach, and funds raised for classrooms, the need to support teachers and students has continued to grow as well. According to our 2023 survey, teachers out-of-pocket spending has reached an all-time high, with teachers spending an average of $860 a year on supplies to equip their classrooms and students. Every student deserves the opportunity for a quality education, regardless of their economic circumstances. Education is a path out of generational poverty and foundational for healthy and strong communities.Teachers work hard to ensure each of their students have the tools they need to thrive in school, but they need our help. AdoptAClassroom.org makes it easy for individuals and corporate sponsors to donate to classrooms in need in any community throughout the U.S. To date, AdoptAClassroom.org has raised more than $65 million dollars, supported more than a quarter of a million classrooms, and equipped more than 6.4 million students with the supplies they need to succeed in school.. Our 501(c)(3) organization holds the highest 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and the highest transparency rating offered by Candid/GuideStar. Updates

  • AdoptAClassroom.org offers several grants to help teachers fund specific subjects and areas of need. We prioritize funding from our Spotlight Fund grants to classrooms that receive the least support. We wouldn’t be able to provide these grants without help from our corporate partners, foundations and individual donors. By selecting a focus area that matters to them, our donors make a difference for classrooms that need it the most. For more on our grants programs, read our 2024 annual report: https://lnkd.in/etXi7PDH

  • Shrisharda runs out of supplies in her first grade classroom fast. Like, really fast. For many of her students’ families, spending money on school supplies is a luxury. While they do their best to send their students to school with some supplies, a box of crayons hardly lasts a week in her classroom. Without the help she received through AdoptAClassroom.org, Shrisharda wouldn’t have access to essential supplies to get her through the school year. Thanks to our donors, her first graders have the support they need.

  • AdoptAClassroom.org is in the spotlight! From July through September, our organization garners media attention as news outlets highlight stories about education during the back-to-school season. Teachers are at the heart of what AdoptAClassroom.org does, so we want them to be the featured voices. Our incredible Teacher Community Manager Jennifer Keene has been spending the last few months preparing teachers like Monte in Minnesota for their appearances on local media programs. Thank you to everyone who has helped spread the word about AdoptAClassroom.org! Together, we’re helping more teachers get the supplies they need for the new school year.

  • Newcomer students are often shy about talking to their peers. To increase language acquisition and confidence, an elementary school in Texas pairs students with a volunteer community mentor. While volunteers like Yolanda (pictured) loved building a relationship with a student, the program lacked the resources to make a substantial impact on students’ growth. After receiving a grant from The Belron Ronnie Lubner Charitable Foundation (BRLCF), the school purchased supplies to fully equip these pairs with games, books and other materials to make the program a success. Thanks to The BRLCF’s support, nearly all participating students went up at least a proficiency level in reading, speaking and writing.

  • Teachers spend an average of $895 annually because they want their students to have everything they need to learn. Their passion for their career shouldn’t be costing them so much out of pocket. That’s why support from AdoptAClassroom.org’s longtime partner Burlington Stores, Inc. matters so much. By stepping up and supporting classrooms in high-needs schools, Burlington is helping students access critical supplies that would otherwise come from their teachers, if they get them at all. Since 2017, Burlington has ensured teachers on AdoptAClassroom.org receive the funding needed to provide more than 1.4 million students with classroom supplies. You can help by rounding up your purchase at checkout at any Burlington store through August 25.
