Today, Dr. Alexandru Roman emphasized in his course, "Managing Public Sector Projects," that while project management might seem technical and dry, developing these skills is crucial for career advancement and organizational success. "Accountability is easy to measure, while leadership is more difficult to quantify." The session combined theoretical frameworks with practical applications through case studies, allowing participants to apply concepts to real-world scenarios. #ELDP #CountyLeadership #ProjectManagement #RiskManagement #ProjectCharter California Counties Foundation California State Association of Counties®

We all have values that drive our personal and professional lives, and today, Paul Danczyk, PhD, PCC, led two courses on Public Service Values to explore how our values influence our leadership styles. "The values that we hold are not good or bad. Instead, it is important to leverage your values that are working well and examine how your values show up so that you can be aware of them and become unstuck in sticky situations." How do your values show up in your leadership? Let us know in the comments. #CountyLeadership #Values #Vision #LeadershipStyles California Counties Foundation California State Association of Counties®

Last week, Dr. Rueben Brock shared some of his Jedi mind tricks to let your team know that you are really listening to them in a class on Empathic Leadership. Class participants were coming fresh from a course the day prior on Consensus and Commitment: Linking Culture with Outcomes, taught by Regina W. Romeo. "Culture change is an investment of time and resources. Onboarding is not just the first week; it goes on forever." Both courses emphasized the importance of consistency to ensure that your team is full of diverse perspectives that feel respected and can work effectively together. #ELDP #TeamCulture #EmpathicLeadership #ActiveListening

What a great day in Sutter County to launch the CSAC Institute with Yuba County! The participants are amazing as we dove into public service leadership characteristics and public service values. Special thanks to CAOs Kevin Mallen, who shared insights on living into county values (Yes to Yuba!) and active listening, and Steven Smith, on staying mission-focused and working across silos; and Sarah Eberhardt Rios, Sutter's HHS Director, on "being the bridge that folks stand on", and Robert Bendorf, former Yuba County CAO, on the seeing public service as an orchestra and the roles of people-strategy-governance. This course launches the 10-month Executive Credential program. California State Association of Counties® California Counties Foundation

Proudly Recognizing the Graduates of Our Inaugural Human Resources (HR) Executive Institute 👏 🎊 🎉 In partnership with California Counties Human Resources (CCHR), we honored 26 dedicated leaders from 17 counties during the CCHR Fall Conference in San Diego on August 28. This milestone program was designed specifically for current and emerging county HR executives who are navigating today’s most pressing workforce challenges. Over the course of the program, participants completed 50+ hours of advanced professional instruction -including a four-day residency, hands-on elective courses, and opportunities to strengthen leadership networks across California. Congratulations to each of our graduates for their commitment to professional growth and their dedication to strengthening county HR leadership statewide. What’s next? We’re excited to share that the next cohort of the HR Executive Institute launches Wednesday, November 12. This new group of county leaders will build on the success of our inaugural class, continuing the work of shaping a resilient, innovative, and future-ready county workforce. We look forward to seeing how both our graduates and incoming participants carry forward the mission of advancing excellence in county human resources. 🔗 Learn more about the HR Executive Institute or apply for the next cohort at https://lnkd.in/gTU8KEPj Paul Danczyk, PhD, PCC California State Association of Counties®
