About us

Crossroads Tax Advisors provides tax, accounting, and consulting services to dental offices both in Indiana and throughout the United States. With an office situated in a suite of shared offices, Chris can meet with clients in person – or he can provide virtual services that do not require face-to-face interaction. The goal of Crossroads Tax Advisors is to help dentists who own small, private practices to build a successful business. Chris has extensive knowledge of the dental industry, and he uses his expertise to help dentists achieve maximum profitability and success. Crossroads Tax Advisors aims to reduce the dentists’ stress level when dealing with business administration and running their practice. The reduction in stress allows dentists to focus on providing dental care and enjoying life outside of the practice. Also, the reduction in stress allows dentists to arrive at work each morning relaxed, refreshed, and ready to take on the day. Our mission is to help you get the most out of your practice with solid accounting processes & procedures as well as maximizing the tax benefits allowed. This can be achieved a number of different ways, but it must start with great accounting processes. Just as great oral hygiene must start with daily habits, great accounting must start with your daily and weekly processes. Great accounting is the foundation for great practice management advice. No one can make impactful changes to your practice if the financials are not accurate & timely prepared on a monthly basis. Do you know your overhead percentage? If not, that is a big deal! You cannot reduce your overhead without first figuring out where the money is going. Crossroads Tax Advisors has been in business for several years and is currently in a growth phase. Chris seeks to add clients by appealing to dentist-owners of small practices who understand the importance of hiring an industry expert to help with accounting, tax preparation, and practice management advice.

  • Do you belong to your local or state dental society? What about the American Dental Association? The major items associations provide for their members are continuing education, general support, political advocacy, discount opportunities, referrals and support of dental charities & foundations. There are also organizations who advocate for specialists or specialized interests. Being involved gives you additional purpose, helps solidify dentistry and most of all, protects the integrity of patient care.

  • The April 15th tax deadline has come and gone. Did your CPA call and surprise you with how much you owed to the IRS? Too many times we hear stories of CPAs calling their clients days before the deadline and telling them they owe ten's, or even hundred's of thousands of dollars to the IRS - and have to pay that amount in a matter of days. If this is your experience, you need to consider a new CPA. Find someone who prepares quarterly estimates for you and does year round tax planning. Take the stress out of taxes.

  • If you own a dental practice, you should read this book. Doug Fettig, CPA, MBA gives experienced advice on mindset, surrounding yourself with the right people and being a CEO. Under 50 pages and available on Amazon. The only thing not accurate is the pic of him on the front - so much more hair (lettuce) than dipicted. If you haven’t met Doug, go to his website - dentaldollarsandsense.com and find a way to hear him speak. Tap into his wisdom and passion.

  • How is your marketing & advertising as a dentist or healthcare provider? Are you attracting the ideal patients to your practice? How many of your patients are writing positive reviews? Does your name come up when people search for dentist near me? Are you still doing mailers and emails? The statistics on how many mailers are read vs. trashed and how many cold emails are actually ready shows this is a waste of energy & money. Currently, more people than ever are doing "near me" searches to find their healthcare providers - dentists, vets, chiropractors, etc. What are you doing to make sure you show up? Are you speaking with companies who will point you in the right direction? If this is an area you can improve and bring in the right new clients, let us know and we can connect you with experts in the field. #dentist #healthcare #marketing

  • Tracking miles Tracking miles for a tax deduction is a simple and easy strategy to know. The IRS does have some specific criteria for the miles you can count as a business expense. What miles count as tax deductible? Once you are at your place of work, any travel you do to another place of business or any travel that is work related can be deducted. If you drive from your office to a business meeting or to run errands for your job, you can count those. According to the IRS, you cannot count mileage from your home to the office or vice versa as that's considered a personal commute. Regardless of your employment type, you need to record the following information: Date of the trip - Start and end location - Miles driven - Purpose of the trip For 2025, the IRS standard mileage rate is 70 cents per mile, up 3 cents / mile from 2024. This amount is designed to cover all costs related to operating the vehicle, including fuel, maintenance, insurance, and depreciation. A mileage log is highly recommended. You can use a physical logbook (old school) or an app to track this information. There are many different apps to pick from, find one that you can enable when you need it. MileIQ, Everlance, MileTracker, and Hurdlr are a few popular and user friendly apps. If you have any questions about your specific situation, please feel free to reach out to info@crossroadstax.com
