From day one, the Carhartt Workshop has been about more than tools. It’s about building community. We’re proud to celebrate this milestone and grateful to everyone who’s helped shape it.
In 2020, we opened the Carhartt Workshop in Detroit as a space where hard work and creativity come together. Five years later, it’s become a hub for purpose-driven progress, with 80,000 tool loans shared with 3,400+ neighbors, 200+ free events hosted, and countless moments of connection and collaboration on the books. To mark the milestone, we’ve unveiled three new installations to honor Detroit’s history, natural spaces, and creators— inspired by the place we call home. Thank you to our neighbors, partners, and associates who continue to shape what the Carhartt Workshop stands for. Here’s to many more years of building a better future, together. The story of Detroit has always revolved around hardworking people. Ten years ago, Jonathan West, a member of our Product Innovation team, and Detroit native, paid homage to our city’s blue-collar roots and diverse community when he designed the mural shown above. If you’ve been to Detroit in the last decade and rode down I-94, there’s a good shot you’ve noticed this now iconic landmark proudly sprawled across our flagship Carhartt store.
Meet Julian, Jude, Brian, and Gray—aka The Fire Island Service Corps. We’ve teamed up with the National Park Foundation to support service corps crews across the county who work tirelessly to preserve our nation’s most treasured places.
We hosted our third annual Friends of Carhartt Summit this spring — bringing together a powerful group of builders, makers, and doers who embody the values we stand for. It was an impactful few days filled with connection, collaboration, and community. We’re honored to have spent time with this inspiring crew in person. Shout in the comments if you spot yourself in the video.
