The property market is being shaped by record-high reinsurance capital, elevated catastrophe losses, and shifting dynamics. CAC’s team of property experts, led by Michael Prindle, notes key trends to keep an eye on: > The global reinsurance market entered 2025 with record-high capital levels, allowing reinsurers to absorb most first-half losses without materially impacting pricing. > Global insured losses reached $80B in the first half of the year, including $40B from the Los Angeles wildfires, which is the second-highest first-half total since 1980. > Increased competition and favorable renewal terms as we head into 2026, despite a major catastrophe during the remaining hurricane season A strategic plan and proactive risk management continue to be critical in improving renewal outcomes.
