We had various internship programs over the years at Cobble Hill, but this year I let Kendra Nedell and Shaelyn Fascenda create their own internship programs - the did an amazing job putting a plan, curriclum/training, and actual applicable tasks for a digital marketing agency employee in place and they were able to recruit amazing interns like Sierra Fox.

This summer, I had the privilege of completing a Digital Marketing Summer Internship with Cobble Hill Digital in Charleston, SC. Throughout the experience, I gained valuable hands-on knowledge and applied my classroom learning in a real-world industry setting. Some of my key projects included: -Setting up and optimizing paid advertising campaigns -Conducting competitor analysis and market research -Creating performance reports and analyzing campaign data -Developing and testing creative ad concepts -Supporting client deliverables and timeline management -Collaborating with team members on campaign strategy I am especially grateful to Kendra Nedell for building such a meaningful internship program, providing mentorship, and fostering such a positive learning environment. The skills I gained this summer will continue to guide me through my academics and future career, and I couldn’t be more thankful for this opportunity!

President at Pyxl | Transformational Marketing Leader | Helping Visionary Brands Align Strategy with Purpose

🚀 Today, I'm thrilled to announce that HOOK is officially joining the Pyxl family. Sometimes the most important business decisions happen in the spaces between the data points. Five months ago, when I first met Brady Waggoner from HOOK, we felt something that doesn't show up in due diligence reports. It was the same energy I felt when we met Austin from the Cobble Hill earlier this year - that rare moment when you realize you're not just looking at another agency, you're looking at energetic alignment. How do you know when an acquisition is right?

"In agency world, we were paid to be pixel perfect. In an operating business, that's the fastest thing that will kill you." Suze Dowling said this on The Marketing Factor. She helped build some of the biggest DTC brands at Gin Lane with obsessive attention to detail. Then tried to run Pattern Brands the same way and had to completely unlearn it. "It was a painful couple of years," she said. Had to rewire her brain from "slow and methodical" to "break it fast and learn faster." Turns out being great at building brands doesn't automatically make you great at operating businesses. Different skills, different mindset. Her rule now: Be a perfectionist about the actual product. Everything else? Ship it, test it, figure it out. The thing that makes you successful can quickly become the thing holding you back.

Ugly ads work. Here’s why. We’re all numb. Endless scrolling. Too much polish. Branding that blends into itself. Then a shaky, front-camera video pops up: bad lighting, clunky captions, too many emojis. And you stop. Not because it’s beautiful, but because it...isn’t. Suze Dowling said it best on the podcast: “An ugly ad doesn’t mean it’s a bad ad. It just means you’re leaning into native features.” Yes, the ad still needs a hook, it still needs a clear message. It still needs to be on brand. But the production? It’s intentionally scrappy. Because that’s what actually feels native in-feed now. In 2020, a beautiful brand could carry the work. In 2025, it gets scrolled past. Ugly ads aren’t bad ads, and maybe the most strategic thing you can do… is let go of being perfect.

This article is a great breakdown of the psychology behind promotions—urgency, scarcity, social proof… the usual suspects. And it’s exactly why, at Cobble Hill we start talking about Black Friday now, in June.Brands need to start learning and testing early. Why? Because the real Black Friday success doesn’t come from the November promo. It comes from the six months of learning before it—figuring out which offers convert, which segments engage, which creative hits hardest, and what kind of messaging builds trust and drives action.

I started Cobble Hill 13 years ago in a backyard shed with a couple of clients and a lot of late nights. Today, I’m excited to share that we’ve been acquired by Pyxl! It's a move that opens up new possibilities for our team, the work, and the brands we support. We're still Cobble Hill - same people, I'm not going anywhere. Now we have more support behind everything we do. Super grateful for every client, teammate, and partner who’s been part of the journey and excited for what’s next. https://lnkd.in/eCft_J7m

  • When does it really make sense to move past Shopify’s out-of-the-box themes and invest in something custom? According to Lucas Ballasy, it’s not just about revenue. It’s about complexity. Deep catalog? Millions of variants? Need intensive UX strategy and serious design exploration? Then custom makes sense. If you’re just starting out, though, don’t overspend. Shopify themes can get you surprisingly far. Save the heavy lifting for when your brand truly demands it.
